Apps are posted to the store as soon as they are submitted, but it might take Google a while to review them and take down those that break the rules. App makers that have had several releases deleted from the store may be blacklisted. Many new apps in the Google Play store are quickly withdrawn for infractions of the shop’s policies. For the users of these apps, the potential for data loss within the app is an inconvenience. The University of Groningen’s Department of Computer Science has developed two machine learning models that can foretell whether or not a newly uploaded app will be withdrawn. Both programmers and end users can benefit from these models. Information about this study may be found in a publication that appeared in the September issue of Systems and Soft Computing.
